The event was held at the Daytona kart track in Milton Keynes.
At first all went reasonably well for us with an 8th position on the grid.
John got off to a good start keeping our position. It was then over to Kev
who promptly crashed the kart into a fellow competitor. The collision caused
terminal damage to the steering. After running back to the pits for a new
kart we finally at least had the No1. kart. This kart lasted a fraction of
a lap until the bottom of the kart fell on to the track. Back to the pits
and our third kart No. 17.
Back on with the race, 4 laps behind the last but one team. It was then the
long crawl back to honour.
After some impressive times (impressive to us at least) we managed to crawl
our way up to 11th position. It was then up to Paul to keep us from last position,
after puncturing the tyre during an alltercation with a fellow competitor
4laps from the end the pressure was on. Lap times dropped right down to the
1m.20secs, but Paul managed to keep the kart on the track. we finished in
11th place out of 15.We were pretty pleased considering our disastrous start.
The best being that we beat a business competitor of ours who shall remain
nameless.
The race was won by Goodyear who were presented with the agequipment.co.uk
trophy.
Fun all round roll on the next one!
